ARTISTS GRANTS

The Artists Grants Program fosters the creation of contemporary art by encouraging and assisting emerging artists living in Arizona.  CF awards up to seven Arizona artists $1500.00 each for the purchase of materials necessary to continue their work.  The grant is designed to assist artists who will significantly benefit from public recognition and financial support.

Each year artists are invited to apply for a grant.  To qualify, artists must be residents of Arizona and must be active, professional visual artists not working toward an academic degree.  As part of the application process, artists submit three images, or a VHS, or a DVD of original works produced within the last two years, a current resume and a brief artist’s statement.  Recipients are selected through a juried competitive process.

The Chairperson will assist the judges the day of judging, contact the winners as well as contact last year’s winners to exhibit their work at the annual meeting/art exhibition.

                     CONTEMPORARY FORUM OF
          PHOENIX ART MUSEUM ARTIST AWARD

CF has established the Contemporary Forum of Phoenix Art Museum Artist Award that is presented to a mid-career artist each year at the annual meeting in May.  The artist chosen will receive a monetary award of $5,000 and a certificate of recognition. The artist’s work will be exhibited in Phoenix Art Museum concurrent with the display of the work by Artists Grants recipients.

In order to be eligible, the artists must have demonstrated excellence in a body of work created over time, must currently reside in Arizona, and must have been working professionally as an artist in Arizona for at least seven years.

Only current members of Contemporary Forum may nominate an artist for this award.  Nominations must be submitted in writing and should describe why the nominee should be considered for the award as well as contact information both for the artist and for the artist’s gallery.

A three-person jury comprised of Sara Cochran, Phoenix Art Museum's Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, and two other art professionals appointed by the Curator will review the nominations for the award and determine annually if and to whom an award should be given.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

CF awards a scholarship each year, entitled the Contemporary Forum Scult Studio Art Scholarship.  The scholarship encourages and supports the progress and development of an undergraduate art student at Arizona State University.  The winning applicant is awarded payment of one year’s tuition plus an honorary membership in CF. The student has an opportunity to meet potential patrons and clients and to attend CF cultural events.

The scholarship recipient is recognized at CF’s annual meeting in May.  Slides of the recipient's work are exhibited at that time.
